Game Preview
Both teams will be looking to bounce back from losses last Friday as they both cling to playoff hopes in Region 1-AAAAA.
The Wolfpack fell to Augusta rival Evans while the Red Terrors came up short at Effingham in a game filled with several questionable calls against the Terrors.
Both teams enter this game with a chance to earn the No. 4 seed from the region for the Class AAAAA state playoffs. The Wolfpack would be eliminated from the playoff race with a loss. The Terrors need to win this one and also their finale next week at home against Evans to be assured of a playoff berth.
The teams have met only twice. Those meetings were in the 2006 and 2007 seasons when Glynn and Greenbrier were region foes previously. The Terrors won 17-10 at Greenbrier in 2006 before winning 35-13 at home in 2007.
The Wolfpack brought in Scott Tiernan as head coach prior to this season. He took over the Greenbrier program which had been led by Tony Kramer who was the team’s head coach for nine seasons.
Kramer was 31-62 with the Wolfpack with three playoff appearances, but Greenbrier had won only one game the last two seasons and only five since going 7-4 and reaching the playoffs in the 2020 season.
Tiernan graduated from Greenbrier, playing football and baseball for the Wolfpack. He was an offensive coordinator on state championship teams at both Thomson and Burke County.
T.Y. Chisolm is settling in as Glynn’s starting quarterback. He scored on a pair of rushing touchdowns last week at Effingham.
Running back Da’Sean Howard also scored twice for the Terrors last Friday. He rumbled 60 yards for Glynn’s final touchdown in the game.
The Terrors have not played a game at GC Stadium since the City Championship Game on Sept. 30. They were actually the visiting team that night, so Glynn has not been on the home sideline since Sept. 20 against Lakeside-Evans.
