The Panthers defeated rival Evans 21-0 two weeks ago in their league opener before rolling past South Effingham last week at home. Lakeside-Evans is actually 4-0 overall with wins over Grovetown (30-12) and South Aiken (28-19) in its first two games. The Panthers have not started a season 4-0 since the 2019 season. Glynn enters Friday’s game after escaping Statesboro with a 21-20 win last week. The Blue Devils missed an extra-point to tie the game in the final seconds. The Red Terrors trailed 6-0 at halftime and built a 21-6 lead in the second half before Statesboro scored the final 14 points and had a chance to tie it late. The Blue Devils actually lined up to go for two points and the possible win after their touchdown to pull within 21-20, but they committed a procedure penalty which backed them up 5 yards. They then elected to try for the extra-point and missed it. Glynn blitzed Bradwell Institute 57-12 two weeks ago in its region opener at home. The Terrors opened the season with a win over Wayne County in Jesup before losing to unbeaten Richmond Hill at home in Week 2. For the Panthers, their go-to guy on offense is quarterback Ty Jones who totaled more than 300 all-purpose yards in the game against Evans. He accounted for 213 yards from scrimmage in the first half. Jones threw for 185 yards in the victory over Evans, rushed for 79 and also returned a punt 79 yards. Last year, Glynn played the Panthers the final week of the regular season and cruised to a 50-7 victory, scoring all of its points in the first half. The Terrors returned three interceptions for touchdowns in the game. --- Compiled by Kevin Price
