Game Preview
The Red Terrors are set to kick off their Region 1-AAAAA schedule against Bradwell Institute, an old region foe which is back in their league for the first time since the 2021 season.
That’s actually also the last time Glynn faced off against the Tigers. The Terrors won that meeting 35-12 at Olvey Field in Hinesville.
Bradwell is back in the state’s second-largest classification this season with the Georgia High School Association going from seven classes to six classes in the latest round of reclassification.
The Tigers are one of three new teams in the league this year. The others are Statesboro and Greenbrier. All three teams were in Region 1-AAAAA last season when Class 5A was the third-largest class in the state.
Grovetown is no longer in the region, but Brunswick, Effingham, South Effingham, Lakeside-Evans and Evans are all still in it.
Glynn opened the season on Aug. 16 with a 16-10 victory at Wayne County which is winless after three games. The Terrors lost two weeks ago to Richmond Hill, 31-12.
Bradwell won its first game against rival Liberty County, 11-3, before losing at Westover by a 40-12 tally in its second game.
Like the Terrors, the Tigers had an open date last week.
Against Liberty, Bradwell scored one touchdown and also got four points on a pair of safeties. The Tigers rushed for 251 yards in the win. They controlled the ball for more than 16 minutes in the first half.
Westover scored on four of its first five possessions against the Bradwell defense which had stymied Liberty in the opening game.
The Tigers also threw a pair of interceptions and gave up a fumble return for a touchdown in that loss in Albany.
Wade Cobb ran 42 yards for a third-quarter touchdown for Bradwell.
Deshon Brock is now in his fourth season as Bradwell’s head coach. He is the fourth coach for the Tigers since Rocky Hidalgo became head coach at Glynn prior to the 2014 season.
Hidalgo is 8-0 all-time against the Tigers.
