TERRORS GET BY MCINTOSH, NOW 2-0

Glynn Academy moved to 2-0 on the young season with a 14-6 victory Friday night over McIntosh County Academy in Darien. The Red Terrors kicked off their season last Friday with a 21-0 win at home over Statesboro. Friday’s game was the home opener for the Buccaneers who blanked Johnson High in Savannah last week by 26-0 to open their season. The last time Glynn went to McIntosh two years ago, the Terrors and Buccaneers finished in a 14-14 tie. On Friday, Glynn fell behind 6-0 when MCA scored just seconds into the second quarter on a 6-yard run by freshman Earnest McIntosh. The Terrors scored their first touchdown with 5:14 left before halftime on a 35-yard pass from Ryan Schueneman to Sean Wallace. The extra-point try was good to give Glynn a 7-6 lead. That would be the score at halftime. Glynn scored the only points by either side in the second half when Schueneman found David Prince for a 30-yard TD. The two also teamed up for Glynn’s first touchdown of the season last Friday in the win over Statesboro. Schueneman was making just his second start at quarterback on Friday night for the Terrors. The GA defense has now allowed just the one touchdown in the first eight quarters of the season. Last year, the Terrors topped MCA 22-12 at home in the second game of the season for both teams. Glynn will be back in GC Stadium next Friday night for a matchup with Camden County. The Wildcats lost Friday night at home to Brunswick High, 21-17. The Pirates jumped out to a 14-0 lead with touchdowns on their first two drives and led 21-14 at halftime. - Report compiled by Kevin Price for GCS Athletics
