Kickoff A look at Glynn Academy’s next game: Opponent: Lakeside-Evans When: 7:30 p.m. Friday Where: Augusta Radio: 102.5 FM Records: GA 5-4 overall, 3-2 Region 2-AAAAAA; LE 3-6, 1-4 Last year/All-time: Teams did not play. GA leads 2-0 all-time. Game Preview The Red Terrors will conclude the 2022 regular season Friday night with a road game at Lakeside-Evans in Augusta. Regardless of the outcome, Glynn is assured of playing next week in the Class AAAAAA state playoffs. The Terrors are locked into the No. 3 seed from Region 2-AAAAAA and will be on the road in the opening round against the No. 2 seed from Region 1-AAAAAA which will be the losing team in Friday’s game between Thomas Country Central and Northside (Warner Robins). Those two are playing for the region title and top seed in their season finale. The Terrors were off last week after securing their ninth consecutive postseason berth under head coach Rocky Hidalgo with their 25-22 win the previous week over Evans at Glynn County Stadium. Glynn trailed 22-8 after the Knights scored on the first play of the third quarter, but the Terrors scored the final 17 points of the game to pull out the come-from-behind win. Senior kicker Kody Arnold kicked a field goal to break a 22-22 deadlock in the closing moments. The win over Evans was the third in a row for the Terrors who are looking to end the season with four straight region victories after dropping their first two league games to Brunswick and Effingham. Those two teams are playing for the region championship Friday night at GC Stadium. The winner will also be the No. 1 seed from the region for the playoffs while the loser will settle for the No. 2 seed. In the victory over the Knights two weeks ago, sophomore running back Greg Peacock carried 37 times for 233 yards for the Terrors. He had 98 rushing yards in the first half. Lakeside-Evans is playing its final game of the season on Friday night as the Panthers have been eliminated from playoff contention. They won their region opener 21-20 over Evans on Sept. 29 but have not won since that game. In their last four region games, the Panthers have not scored more than 13 points in any game. They lost 44-10 at Brunswick, fell 26-13 at South Effingham, lost 21-7 at Grovetown and fell 27-7 to Effingham last week at home. Glynn has won its only two games against the Panthers when they played in the same region previously back in 2006 and 2007. Lakeside-Evans actually didn’t score in either of those games as Glynn won 40-0 at Lakeside in 2006 and then blanked the Panthers 25-0 the next year in Brunswick.
