Glynn is going for its third consecutive victory after winning back-to-back games for the second time this season. The Terrors won 13-9 two weeks ago at South Effingham before bombing Grovetown 46-13 last Friday in their Homecoming game at Glynn County Stadium. The Terrors had not won consecutive games since winning their opening two games of the 2022 season over Statesboro and McIntosh County Academy. Following those wins, Glynn lost four straight games including its first two region games against rival Brunswick High and Effingham. Those two teams appear headed for a showdown for the region championship in the final game of the regular season on Nov. 4 at GC Stadium. Glynn is looking to punch a ticket to the state playoffs for the ninth straight season under head coach Rocky Hidalgo who has taken the Terrors to the postseason every season since becoming the school’s coach in 2014. The Terrors have also made the playoffs for 14 straight seasons coming into this season. Special teams have played a huge role in Glynn’s last two games. The Terrors blocked a punt and returned it for a touchdown in their victory over South Efffingham. They also kicked two first-half field goals including a 48-yarder just prior to halftime. Last Friday against Grovetown, Glynn got two kick returns for touchdowns from sophomore Greg Peacock. He returned the opening kick 99 yards for a score and also returned another kick 96 yards for a touchdown in the first half. Also early in last week’s game, Daniel Smiley blocked a Grovetown punt deep in the Warriors’ territory that led to a Glynn touchdown. Smiley blocked the punt the week before at South Effingham as well. Peacock carried for 97 yards last week and also caught a touchdown pass from senior quarterback Tyler Devlin who threw four TD passes in the win. He completed two scoring throws to junior receiver David Prince and also threw a touchdown pass to running back Hank Noonan. Glynn’s defense also intercepted a pair of passes on Grovetown’s side of the field that led to touchdowns for the Terrors. Ryan Young and Jayden Ellis had the interceptions. Evans will come to Brunswick having lost its last two games. The Knights lost 21-20 to rival Lakeside-Evans on Sept. 29. Following an open week, they fell 35-22 last Friday at Effingham. The Knights won their region opener over Grovetown 42-15. Next week, they host Brunswick before finishing out their schedule at home against South Effingham. Evans is led by senior quarterback Dj Walton. He has thrown for 1,040 yards and 10 touchdowns and has rushed for 636 yards and five TDs. He averages almost 91 rushing yards a game. Glynn and Evans have a brief history in football. The teams met in 2006 and 2007 when they competed in the same region previously. The Terrors won the first meeting 24-7, and the Knights won the second matchup 14-13. The schools also met in the first round of the 2018 state playoffs with Glynn winning 42-7 at home. This is the second season at Evans for head coach Barrett Davis who previously was the head coach at Southeast Bulloch.
