GA AT HOME IN STATE TOURNAMENT

The Glynn Academy volleyball team will play at home Wednesday in the first round of the Class AAAAAA state tournament.
The Lady Terrors are set to host Tift County in their opening-round match. The contest is set for 5 p.m. at the GA gym.
Tift (15-7) is the No. 3 seed out of Region 1-AAAAAA.
Glynn earned a home match in the state tourney by finishing second Saturday in the Region 2-AAAAAA tournament held at Brunswick High. The Lady Terrors fell to Effingham in the tournament championship after defeating the Lady Rebels earlier in the tournament.
The Lady Terrors (15-15) went into the region tournament as the No. 5 seed. They knocked off fourth-seeded South Effingham in their tournament opener Saturday morning. Glynn won 2-0, taking the first set 25-16 and the second set 25-16.
Glynn then defeated top-seeded Lakeside-Evans in three sets. GA again won the opening set 25-20, but fell 26-24 in the second set before taking the decisive third set 15-12 to earn the win.
Then, in their first meeting with Effingham, the Lady Terrors won in straight sets 25-20 and 25-21 for a 2-0 triumph.
But when the teams met again for the tournament championship and top seed for the state tournament, the Lady Rebels came out on top, winning 3-1 in scheduled five-set title matchup. Glynn won the first set, but Effingham won three straight sets to pull out the win.
During the regular season, Effingham (25-15) defeated Glynn 2-0 and 2-1. Efffingham was the No. 2 seed coming into the region tournament.
Lakeside finished third and will be the No. 3 seed from the region in state. South Effingham will be the No. 4 seed.
