That victory was the second for the Red Terrors in Augusta this season. They also have beaten Lakeside-Evans up there this season. Glynn will round out the regular-season schedule in Augusta on Oct. 31 at Greenbrier. The Mustangs already own wins over all three Augusta schools in the region. They beat Lakeside-Evans at home by 20-14 in overtime on Sept. 12 to kick off their region schedule, downed Evans 14-10 on the road on Sept. 26 and knocked off Greenbrier at home last Friday by 34-28 in OT. South Effingham lost its season opener 14-6 to New Hampstead before getting throttled by Toombs County 56-8 in its other non-region game. The Mustangs’ region loss was to Effingham at home on Sept. 19. The Rebels won 49-21. South Effingham closes its schedule with games against Bradwell Institute, Statesboro and Brunswick after facing the Terrors. Glynn will return from its off week to face off with Effingham before going to Greenbrier to finish out its schedule. Going into this week, Brunswick sits atop the region with a 5-0 league record. Effingham, Statesboro and South Effingham are all 3-1 in region play. Glynn is 3-2. The Terrors have won eight in a row over South Effingham since losing the first two matchups between the schools back in the 1990s. Glynn has shut out the Mustangs in the last two games. South Effingham did not win a game last season, failing to score in five of their 10 games. Last season, Greenbrier drilled the Mustangs 56-0. Last week in the OT win, South Effingham got a 236-yard rushing effort from Khyran White. Freshman quarterback Liam Coburn scored the winning touchdown on a 4-yard run in OT. The Mustangs can expect to see a heavy workload from Glynn halfbacks De’Sean Howard and DJ Creighton. --- Compiled by Kevin Price for GCS Athletics
